Andries M. · Vlaanderen, BE

Creative Code Artist

I write shaders and small engines that turn sound and mathematics into moving images, then render them at 4K. The sound is usually mine too: Ableton, tekno first, with detours into techno, darkpsy and minimal. Everything here is built from scratch: no frameworks, no dependency trees. The rest of my week goes to the land, farming part time and fully organic.

Resonance

WebGL2GLSLWeb Audio
An audio-reactive GLSL visualiser. Scenes are nothing but JSON and shader files; a shared feed injects the live audio uniform into every shader, while post-FX and presets live in the engine. Roughly 35 scenes and two hundred presets so far, from raymarched fractals to minimal surfaces and hyperbolic honeycombs. It exports stills at 3840 x 2160.
Local
Twelve different Resonance scenes in a labelled grid, from a Mandelbulb and a Menger sponge to Octonion Julia sets, a torus knot and a sphere lattice
Part of the scene library
Six raymarched fractal scenes side by side: Mandelbox, Menger sponge, Sierpinski, Apollonian, Mandelbulb and a quaternion Julia set
Raymarched distance fields, six built-in scenes
A grid of sixteen renders of the same Seifert surface, stepped across thickness and detail settings
One surface, swept across thickness and detail
Four hyperbolic honeycombs in green and cyan, labelled with their Schlafli symbols
Hyperbolic honeycombs, four Schläfli symbols
Gyroid, Schwarz D and I-WP minimal surfaces in magenta and cyan, above three tropical amoeba curves
Minimal surfaces and tropical amoebas

Ruin

WebGL2PWAAndroid
A dark-aesthetic photo studio: WebGL2 colour grading, glitch passes and cinemagraph loops that turn a still into a subtly moving frame. Installs as an Android app.

Kaleida

WebGL2Web Audio
A self-contained kaleidoscope that listens. Drop in a track, get symmetry-folded visuals that move with it, and record straight to WebM.
Local
Still from BaRRyT: concentric rings of yellow, magenta and blue rippling out from the centre Play here
BaRRyT, recorded straight out of Kaleida

Vizforge

GPUCLIFFmpeg
The offline counterpart: a GPU renderer taking audio and video in, writing a bit-exact lossless audio track alongside an H.264 master. Zero npm dependencies.
Local
Still from Withering: a plant graded into hard magenta and cyan, with smoke drifting behind it Play here
Withering, rendered with Vizforge

Mug

WebGL2Image
A caricature portrait deformer using WebGL2 liquify. The plateau falloff curve is the whole trick: it makes a deform read as funny instead of mushy. Drop in a face and it never leaves your machine.

Sound Design in Ableton

Ableton LiveTeknoDarkpsy
Tekno first, with detours into techno, darkpsy and minimal. All kinds of weird loops and half-finished worlds, built from scratch in Ableton. It is the outlet, and it feeds straight back into the visual work, because the engines above listen to it.

Healing Frequencies

Ableton LiveMeditationBinaural
The current build: long-form frequency work for meditation and deep rest, aimed at the body as much as the mind, and at the states just past it. Astral projection, trance, letting go. Slow, tuned, and made to be listened to with your eyes shut.

MIDI Packs

MIDIGenerative
Generative eight-bar MIDI packs for goa and nitzhonot: phrygian dominant, 145 to 155 BPM, every loop built to close cleanly on the bar.

Phonelab

ADBAndroidInstallation
Dumped Android phones, repaired and brought back, then driven together over ADB from one browser dashboard. They are headed for a frame on the wall: one visual projected across the whole grid so the screens form a single large image, or addressed one by one as small independent panels. Salvage as a display surface.

Candlewatch

WorkerCronTelegram
A Bitvavo four-hour candle watcher on a Worker cron, pushing signals to Telegram. Deliberately read-only: it never places a trade.

FFmpegPipeline
A Reels pipeline: drop a clip, get a watermarked 9:16 cut, review it, then publish out to Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

Off-grid

The other job

Part of my week goes into screens. Another part goes into the ground. I farm part time and fully organic: a vegetable garden and polytunnel that carry a good share of what I eat, with no chemicals and no shortcuts. It runs on the same terms as the code: built slowly, from scratch, and understood all the way down.

Around it sits the rest of the setup: solar panels, thermal collectors, off-grid power, and a slow move out of the normal system. The long game is a small plot that feeds and powers itself and needs as little from the grid as possible. And animals: there are always animals around here, and they get a say in how the place is run.
